Michael Giberson is a Senior Fellow for Energy at the R Street Institute, where he focuses on electric power economics, energy policy, regulation, and related issues. He previously served as an Associate Professor of Practice in Energy Economics and Law at Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business, where he taught energy economics and U.S. energy policy and regulation.

An economist by training, Giberson has extensive experience analyzing electricity markets, competition, regulatory policy, and the economic forces shaping the U.S. energy sector. He has also worked with Potomac Economics, George Mason University, Argonne National Laboratory, and other organizations focused on energy markets and policy. His research and commentary have appeared in publications including Nature Energy, The Electricity Journal, Journal of Regulatory Economics, and Regulation.
