Asanka Gurusinha

Former Sri Lankan cricketer

Asanka Gurusinha was a pivotal member of Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup-winning team, contributing a crucial 50 runs in a century partnership with Aravinda de Silva. He represented Sri Lanka in 41 Tests and 147 One Day Internationals (ODIs). A graceful left-handed batsman and part-time bowler, Gurusinha also held roles as the manager of the Sri Lanka national cricket team and as a member of the selection committee. Currently residing in Australia, he has recently served as the head coach of the Nigeria cricket team and as the senior coach of the Essendon Cricket Club in Victorian Premier Cricket.
